We are a team consisting of experts in the field of biology, mathematics, and computer science, working at the University of Ostrava. Our goal is to create freely available applications that will allow users to get information about individual groups of organisms, their easier identification, and subsequent involvement in data collection and thus in real research. In addition to such applications, we try to create other tools that can facilitate the availability of environmental data in practice or participation in ongoing research throughout the Czech Republic. We also aim to make interest in nature as such more attractive. We also aim to increase interest in nature in general.

Michal Burda

Michal Burda works at the Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling, where he deals with the creation of statistical models, fuzzy logic, and programming of mathematical problems. In the Biorecords project, he is in charge of classification models, which try to automatically identify the correct species from the available information.

Aleš Dolný

Aleš Dolný researches the ecology of dragonflies as an important model group of insects. Monitors the habitat preferences and assessment of species diversity regarding the state and changes in the environment, including analyzes of the incidence of dragonflies in the secondary waters, especially in the mining landscape. He also studies the interactions of dragonflies with other organisms, such as parasitoids.

Oto Kaláb

Oto Kaláb deals with the processing of spatial data and their use, especially in the field of ecology. His work is also connected with the ecology and protection of equine insects.

Marek Malina

Marek Malina deals with the development of all mobile applications, but also web applications. In the area of his scientific interest, he also focuses on autonomous space mapping and navigation.

Stanislav Ožana

Stanislav Ožana deals with the ecology and genetics of various groups of animals, especially representatives of insects. He also seeks to build civil science projects, use the public in research, and seek parallels for possible connections in the fields of biology, computer science, and mathematics.

Martin Prášek

Programmer of backend parts of information systems in PHP and C# languages. As part of the biorecords project, heit manages the web (excluding GUI) and API for communication with mobile applications.

Petr Raunigr

Petr Raunigr deals with the representation of knowledge and automation of the search for similarities in source codes as well as virtual reality and 3D printing. He is in charge of the web GUI for Biorecords.

Martin Štěpnička

Martin Štěpnička deals with the research of mathematical properties of fuzzy models, modeling of expert knowledge and its use for automation of processes hitherto controlled by humans. In collaboration with biologists, participates in the search for mathematical methods for the identification of species based on their characteristics.
